Croatia: Photo Diary

Tuesday, 12 July 2016

In June I went on holiday to what has since become one of my favourite places, Croatia. After I finished my degree a couple of years ago my friend and I went to Dubrovnik and it was the most stunning place I've ever been. Since then I've been desperate to go back to Croatia with my boyfriend as I knew he'd love it too, so we did - here's what we got up to...

So we flew from Heathrow, with British Airways which happened to be cheapest which was an absolute joy because we only took hand luggage but BA allow a hand luggage size case to go in the over head lockers as well as a smaller bag that can fit under the seats which is amazing!

It always irritates me having to open up my case to get out my purse or passport or whatever, or to put away a jumper or jacket so it just gives you a bit more freedom. Although, I did have a bit of an incident going through security with my liquids so you can read about that here.

We flew into Split and got the catamaran to the island of Hvar for a week, where we stayed in an Air BnB apartment, we'd got on so well with our Air BnB during our trip to Amsterdam earlier in the year that we figured it would ideal to use it again, and it was!

Our hosts were incredible, the sweetest couple that just couldn't have done more! We were picked up from the port and taken to the apartment in the cutest little old car so that we wouldn't have to carry our luggage up the stairs (by the way, if you've not been to Croatia it's worth knowing there are loads of stairs EVERYWHERE so it's worth considering if you want to go...). They had a little welcome drink for us, a shot of something homemade - I didn't catch what it was but it was delicious. Fresh towels and bedding when we wanted, an adapter plug (I've never had that before so I was impressed - I guess I'm easily impressed). They even baked us some cake and we sat and had wine with them, it was absolutely lovely! It was just up from the main square so perfectly located for all the best restaurants and it wasn't expensive at all either so if you're keen to stay there too let me know and I'll message you the link.

Following our week in Hvar, we returned to Split via the catamaran and stayed there for 3 days in another Air BnB apartment, which was also really lovely, just outside the old town so again, we were ideally located for all we wanted to do.

Croatia was stunning, the architecture, the people, the sea, the food! absolutely incredible! I'm going to do a couple of travel guides, one for Hvar and one for Split, to follow this post to go into more detail with what to do and where to eat and drink so make sure to follow me on Bloglovin so as not to miss those! In the meantime, enjoy my photos...

Are you off on holiday anywhere this summer? Whereabouts? Anywhere I can add to my To-Go list? Let me know in the comments!

    1. It does get hot in summer but you could always do a city break to Dubrovnik, Zadar or Zagreb in spring or Autumn? It would be less busy then too but no less beautiful!!
