5 Sick Day Saviours

Tis the season for coughs and colds

I've had a horrible cough all week this week so I've been feeling pretty pants, so I've needed some things to cheer me up. These are the things I've been reaching for...

Herbal teas

When you've go a sore throat I find that a hot drink is far more soothing than a cold one, and I don't like anything milky when I'm feeling ill so a nice herbal tea is ideal! I've recently fallen for cinnamon tea, it's warming and so tasty - this Pukka one is bloody lovely. This Eastern Beauty Oolong*, sent to me by Dragonfly Tea from their fifteenth anniversary Tea House Collection, is also a bloody dream, so soothing and gentle, fragrant but not in a heady perfume way, just so very relaxing!

A good lip balm

This is essential, when your congested and breathing through your mouth and your lips get all dry and crusty there's no other alternative for me than Lanolips. I came across this last Winter and it's been my best pal ever since. It's the only lip balm I've ever used to truly quench the thirst of my lips. It's a life saver.

Netflix

It's no secret I pretty much live with Netflix switched on and nothing passes the time better than a good series binge and by the way, if you're in need of any recommendations I've got a post filled with mine. Luckily for me they have finally uploaded How to get away with murder series 2 is FINALLY on so I'm already halfway through that.

Something bright and cheerful

At the weekend I was meant to be going out with my school friends in Cardiff but couldn't make it in the end cause I wasn't well enough. They sent me these beautiful Bloom and Wild flowers! Such a lovely surprise that really cheered me up! Flowers are great for lifting your spirits so get a loved one to grab you some or order some to be delivered.

Scents for sleep

Back when I went to Hvar, our lovely Air BnB host gave me this little bag of lavender which I've kept by my bed side ever since and whenever I feel restless I give it a squeeze and inhale and it really helps me drift right off. Get yourself some lavender oil to drip on your pillow or a similar little pouch and I swear you'll sleep like a baby.

What are your saviours for when you're feeling poorly?

  1. Totally with you on lip balms. Neal's Yard Remedies Bee Lovely balm has been my ultimate go-to recently. I get such dry hands and cracked lips around this time of year that it hasn't left my side! You've also reminded me that I've got a lavender spray that I need to start getting more use out of so thank you :-)
