My Minimalist Make Up Bag

If you read my last post you'll know that I want to try and become a lot more minimalist over the next year and beyond.
I don't want things I don't need or won't use; particular areas of focus are my wardrobe and beauty products, I found myself hoarding things I might use ONE day, but in reality will likely never get used up. I've stopped myself buying things until something needs replacing, a bit of a one in one out policy (apart from lipstick.. that's different..).

To some this is probably far from minimalist make up bag (also confession time, this isn't all of my make up but the only additions are large eyeshadow or blush palettes so it's not an awful lot more to be honest.. and lipsticks, we mentioned those) but to me, this is exceptionally streamlined and I'm quite proud of myself really. I'm very happy with each individual item in my now everyday make up bag.

So I've found myself ditching foundation/tinted moisturiser, I was running low so started using it only on 'special' occasions but I've pretty much run out now and haven't felt a desire to replace it, so now I'm foundation free! I'm quite enjoying it actually, I just cover my dark under eyes, any redness or blemishes with a little concealer and that's it! My concealer of choice is Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer, which I love. I find it covers my under eye circles perfectly and any redness around my nose, chin or between my brows.

I recently discovered the light Sleek contouring shade is PERFECT for me and this little compact with a gorgeous highlight and a pretty blush is the ideal companion for an all in one. I've also used it as eyeshadow a few times, the highlighter is a gorgeous base shade and the contour is lovely in the crease, the blush makes for a nice accent too. Plus it has that lovely large mirror so it's basically all I need. I'd go as far as to say that the bronzer/contour shade is a matte version of the Nars Laguna Bronzer, which I was about to replace before I found this and now I don't feel I need it and this is a fraction of the cost - worth checking out for sure.

Carrying on the Sleek love, I can't live without my Brow Stylist Pencil in Dark. This is perfect for filling them out a bit nice and quickly, I don't spend ages agonising over the perfect brow, I just like to shade them in a bit really, but the colour is absolutely perfect for me. Before I discovered this I was using a Bobbi Brown version so, Sleek are saving me quite a bit of money of late..

Moving onto the eyes, I'm currently loving this little Guerlain quad. I bought this ages ago (intact I don't believe it's available anymore but this one is very similar) and stopped using it because I couldn't figure out a way to make the pink shade work without just looking like I've got sore eyes (I still can't, someone help please) but the other three shades are gorgeous are my go to. The palest shade is my favourite shadow of all time, I put it all over my lid and right round my inner corner and slightly underneath with a little of the browny shade in my crease for everyday. I feel like it makes me look fresh as a daisy every single day and stays put ALL DAY.

I pair that with a classic wing from my trusty Maxfactor Colour X-pert Waterproof Eyeliner which is, in my opinion, the best liquid eyeliner going, it is indestructible. I cry-laugh on a daily basis and it never ever budges. It's worth noting here, it's not hard to get off though so there's no eye scrubbing at bed time. That with the Maxfactor Masterpiece Max Mascara is just a match made in heaven. Voluminous, defined, lovely lashes - perfecto.

My daily lippy is currently the gorgeous Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Pillow Talk. I don't even think I need to talk about this just look at it... It's the best nude I've owned it's spot on, faultless, perfect, the best, impeccable, the end. It's one of those lipsticks you can pop on with out a mirror without worrying, it'll be perfect every time. The shade is spot on and the formula is beaut - it's not the most long lasting in the world, but I don't know many nudes that are that don't leave your lips looking a bit dry and chapped but if you wear a bit of lipliner underneath it does last a lot longer, but to be honest it doesn't bother me enormously.

And that's it really... that's my current make up bag/everyday routine, my hero products that see me through. All I do to make it more 'night time' is use the darker shades in my quad and/or a bright lip - simples.

Are you a make up hoarder or a bit more minimalist? And what couldn't you do without from your make up bag at the moment? Let me know in the comments
